About the flag

The flag appears in a photo of Egyptian MP Hamdy Hassan.
Eugene Ipavec, 24 June 2007

Recent sightings of the flag shows significant differences with the flag of "uncertain status" presented above (Eugene's sighting, dated 2007, is probably a previous version of the flag. The emblem of the movement is indeed shown in several variants all over the Internet):
- the main color of the flag is of darker green;
- the emblem is shown on a white disk surrounded by two green circles;
- all the elements of the emblem are green;
- there is an additional writing under the swords;
- there is a white writing under the emblem.
Since these sightings include photos of the movement's leader, this version of the flag can be considered as "official"

A photo taken during a press conference held on 5 June 2010 in the movement's headquarters shows the emblem on a green background, surrounded by a white circle, the Koran and the hilts of the sword being yellow, the other elements white.

[Muslim Brotherhood] image by Eugene Ipavec, 10 March 2012

The lower text reads "Muslim Brotherhood."

All the regional MB franchises appear to use the ring-swords-Quran logo, but when I made a cursory survey a few years ago I found that there is - even within any one country - no attempt whatsoever at standardization; the lime-green variant was not particularly representative of what I found then, being an odd shade, but it happened to be in the clearest photo I saw.

This Jordanian affiliate is more typical. Most logos add text in the four spaces between the swords, but I think adding a crescent below may be an older usage which has decreased; the old 80s logo of MB offshoot Hamas had one.

White field version

Unlike the usual green-field flag, here is a white-field flag of the Egyptian "Muslim Brotherhood"; c. 2020.

Nine slogans flag

[Muslim Brotherhood] image located by William  Garrison, 16 October 2023

An expansive and expressive "nine-slogan boxes" variety of a "Muslim Brotherhood" flag, c. 2005. This "nine-slogan boxes" flag is comprised of 5 larger-size green boxes with white-letter slogans, and 4 smaller rectangular white-boxes with green-letter slogans. The slogan in the top-left green-box (with white Arabic words) reads in English: "The Messenger (Mohammed) is our role model." The top-right box reads: "Allah (God) is our goal." The left-middle box reads: "Ask how we strive". The right-middle box reads: "The Quran is our constitution". In the larger bottom box, the slogan reads: "Death for the sake of Allah (God)" ...[is]... "our highest wishes/goal". In the middle of the flag are several logos/designs: at the top is the clean right-hand pointing to Heaven ("Jannah"), in the middle is the Muslim Brotherhood logo, and towards the bottom is the clean right-hand holding Islam's holy book: The Quran. Below the top four "green" boxes with white-lettered slogans, there are four smaller rectangular "white" boxes with Arabic green-letter slogans. The top-left white-box slogan reads: "Our constitution is jihad, our desire is martyrdom." The top-right white-box reads: "Allah is our God". The bottom-left white-box reads: the Quran "is a book of eternity", and the bottom-right white-box reads: "This is our sacred invitation " to Islam. The Islamic "Declaration of Faith" of "There is no god but Allah, Mohammed is His Messenger" is repeated six times at both the top and bottom of the flag.

There is a hidden flag-pole sleeve on the right side (hoist); that is why the overall flag looks off-centered. Although the Muslim Brotherhood originated in Egypt, its followers display the Brotherhood's flags in other countries, including throughout Palestine and the Gaza Strip.
